Just had a thought.

There has been some threads concerning text and leader control with keynotes. I think they covered the wish-list items for that, but I had an inquiry/wish-list idea.

Is there any way to add a parameter to a keynote to allow for a prefix or a suffix. For instance you have a L5x3x.037 Angle you are keynoting in a plan with 1/2" lag bolts @ ?? on center. I could keynote the lag bolt but could not give a spacing for it's attachment. So instead of keynoting this item I just simply use text instead of a keynote, but I thought it would be nice to add a suffix to a keynote if at all possible just for this kind of thing. I guess you could build that into your type catalog, 12"oc, 16"oc and so on, but that could get pretty tedious for a lot of different items.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks
Josh

Josh,

Untested idea... Make a new keynote object, add an instance parameter for text, and presto - you're done. If you don't add a modifier, nothing prints, and if you do, there it is.

The R9 Keynote tool does not allow for the addition of user defined instance parameters....

Ditto. I had tried this as soon as R9 beta became available, and it was one of those rare moments of pause .... to ask ... Why?
I had previously recreated the excellent keynote from the tutorial by SkiSouth, and had added a comment hat allowed me to further elucidate the keynote. It worked great.

I was stunned to find that no parameters could be added to the R9 keynote, and really hope it can be fixed in 9.1. It would add such power. (I guess I better go to the wishlist...)

It's all who you know at the factory to get this one done. This would push Revit way ahead of the pack. Wouldn't it!
