Export model elements 3D ceiling grid components

anyone have any success with exporting to .dwg revit's 2x4 ceiling grid as 3D model components with seperate grid and ceiling tile in different layers? What i get is a solid composite ceiling in a single layer with no grid. Is this an export setting issue?

The grid is just a hatch pattern on the ceiling's surface. It has no 3D depth or form.
