I've created a garage door using one of Revit's existing doors and just modifying it. When I add it to the project I'm not seeing the door as it should be. I've attached what it looks like in a project and the actual file. Is there something screwy with my door? This door has worked fine in other projects. Oh yes I'm sure the door is facing the right way in the project. When I hover my curser over the door I can see the windows that are there. It's like there is a fake wall in front of the door. It's very confusing.

Seems like your door has a few minor glitch. Like the extrusion that cut the panel or the way the panel itself is thick. Change that void extrusion depth and you will see your windows go through. But that will reveal some more glitch

Not quite sure what you mean. In the actual door file my windows do cut through the panel.

Here's an idea of your problem. I will try to find some time to fix it later today.

What seems to be happening is that my door panel is getting thicker after I add it to the project. Which really seems odd.

Exact. Check it's associated parameter.

How do I do that?

First does the panel needs to be rectangular or it should follow the curve of the top ?
If i change the thickness parameter i get an error. Do the panel has to be outside ?
i also suggest that you use nested family for the repeating element

I figured it out. My thickness parameter wasn't referencing the right spot. I changed it and it now works. Thanks for helping me dissect this problem. I guess I really need to be sure what a dimension is actually going to.

Glad you fixed it. Make sure you dimension to ref plane.
