Following posted on Autodesk's site:

This build (20060518_2300) addresses a reported area tolerance issue in Revit-based release 9 project files. It also addresses measurement-related issues discovered in DWF™ files produced from Revit-based release 9 project files.

Note: This update incorporates issues previously addressed in the last build (20060426_2300). Specifically with Autodesk Revit Building 9-based projects utilizing linked files, and issues relating to cascading network licensing for the Autodesk AutoCAD Revit Series—Building 9 products.

I am getting an error:
"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity and try again."

No GO! Anyone else having this problem?

anyone know if this build solves the exporting to Max 8 issue as well?

guess we'll find out soon enough.

Can you explain exactly what this issue is? I haven't read anything about it and I'm very much interested...

With Revit 8.1, when you imported into Max 8 a DWG model that came from Revit (via the 'File Link Manager' using the Revit default) you'd get a nice 3d model in Max that had all the Revit materials intact and properly named.

With Revit 9, so far, if you do the same thing you get that same model, with materials, but the material names are garbled because for some reason instead of using the name that the material has in Revit, it uses the material ID from Revit, something you don't see unless you do a ODBC export. I suspect it has something to do with the new behavor of materials in R9 confusing Max. Everything still works, but it's just not as nice, for instead of being able to pick 'Metal - Stainless - Brushed' off the material browser in Max (to edit it) you instead get 'RevitMaterialID002094'. When folks brought this up a while back someone said that this bug might be addressed in the next build, so...

Aaah, yes, I know, This is a very big problem, I completely forgot about it. Well I do exterior arch. renderings most of the times, (few materials) so I can easily trace which is which (from the elements writen beside the name - or if I list the materials by object).
This is the solution for now. If tou list the materials by object then you can understand that Revit39348349 on every "door-double exterior-glass" object is glass

I opened the file I had sent to support with area problems, and it did NOT update the areas correctly. However, if I copied the boundary or otherwise made changes to it, it DID update with the correct area. This may require some testing by others to see if you get the same results... Be careful with files from a previous version!

I have found in Revit 9 that linking other revit models into a site plan, the site plan revit file is very slow...

Does this update fix this problem?
Is there more information on the fix to file linking mentioned?

thanks

Actually, it was the build BEFORE this one (something like # 20060428) that fixed the problem with links slowing down.

Yes, but it appears that the slow down with links has reappeared with this build...
also, does anyone know what happened to the panoramic (IVR?) creation and export process? Can't get it to create a cylindrical image, and don't see export IVR anywhere anymore...

I've just heard from one of my users that he's noticing the slowdown again.
I had upgraded him to 9, then the April build, which fixed the problem, and now the May build (20060518_2300), and he's saying it's slow again.

I'll file a Support Request & see what they say

9.0(latest build) does seem very slow compared to 8.1. I'm not sure what is causing the performance issues on my end since I don't have any model links and just 4 dwg links. I do have lots of groups and rooms.

We are also noiticing a cosiderable 'slow down' on this version of Revit9.

Major slow downs with opening of dialogues
especially Visibility dialogue
THe workset dialogue

And STC's take an age !

This latest build (20060619_2300) fixes some export issues currently found within Autodesk Revit Building 9-based software products. The updates resolve an issue with regard to exporting elevation or section views which contained linked files as well as export of rotated views on a sheet.

Anyone else getting an error when installing the download. I have downloaded it twice now, with the same error.

The file '/download/9_1ContentENU/ENUHelp.cab' could not be downloaded.
The server replied with error code 404.

On a side note, can we get a forum feature where when one of your own posts is moved, you are automatically re-subscribed to the thread it was moved to?

Hi Steve I also got this but you don't need to worry about this actually. When finished installing it wants to download the the content from the internet which you don't need to do. You already have the content that it wants to install, it was originally installed when you put your original disk in.

In my case it isn't gaining access to the Help file. If it has changed I'd like to get the file...it probably has not at this time though. Still if users are getting errors the guys that make this stuff available should know.

I downloaded and installed the new build (20060619_2300), but I also get an error regarding the Help files. See the attach screen shot.

Anyone have an answer? I have tried several times to re-download the Help.cab to no avail.

you can just cancel of that download. When you open up revit the first time after installing the new build, you might be informed that the download process wasn't complete, you can select CANCEL here and move on safely...

But the factory should definitely take a note of this, coz the users do feel lost when they see such warnings n errors popping up!!

4th Build in a row!! where r we going??

All the content as well as help files would have been installed previously when you installed it via a Media(CD/DVD). When you r installing this new upgrade, you can coolly cancel all such installations again.

Would be nice to hear from the 'factory' if it is the case that we can igonore the error with regard to the Help cab file.

A word on whether any help files or actual content has been updated would help please ? ? ?

Thats true. But you can also check it up by going to
HELP >> GETTING STARTED
HELP >> REVIT HELP F1
HELP >> TUTORIALS

These shud be working correctly. If not, then you'd might want to download the relevant content again.

I've chosen to hit 'Cancel' regarding the download of the Help cabinet -- I doubt there's been an update to the documentation anyway. Nonetheless it might be disconcerting to users to see the error: though I'm sure by now they're aware of the problem, on July 4th nothing is likely to get fixed in America :-P

Here is the response from the factory on the subject.

We have been made aware that there are customer issues with installing the new Revit build (RevitBuilding9_20060619_2300.exe). Once this exe is ran there is a "content" installation phase that will attempt to download CAB files from our servers. This is currently failing with a 404 (file not found) error on multiple files. These files must currently be "skipped" in order to continue with the install and we do not recommend building network deployments until this issue is resolved.
We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and thank you for your patience on this issue.

Mr Spot
2006-07-05, 11:36 PM
Odd, i didn't receive any errors installing that build. However, i always skip content installation. I've also prepared a network deployment which also worked fine...

As posted already, I got the error message from a help file even when SKIP content was chosen. Saying that though, we have just downloaded and installed this build on two more machines and had no problems or error messages at all... and it was super-duper fast for a change! 8-)

Hi,

The problem is in the RevitInstall.ini file located in the folder download. Inside of this file you must change the path of the contents to the correct url place:

I just got this notice from the factory.

As you may know, last week our build of Revit Building 9 ("RevitBuilding9_20060619_2300.exe") experienced errors when trying to download remote help and content in CAB files; we apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.
This issue was corrected last week (07-05-2006), but file name and web server issues prevented us from effectively pushing out the corrected build to all of the global web servers on the Akamai network. As a result, the fix was further delayed in being visible to the public. Although the original error had been corrected and posted, the old file was still being served to our customers globally.

I wanted to follow up with you today to let you know that a new file/link was posted yesterday (07-10-2006) to the Revit Building 9 Product download page. This file "RevitBuilding9_20060619_2300a.exe" (note the 'a' at the end) was installed and tested for both single installs and network deployments and should solve the issues you had with the other build.
