Revit 9-template file

Is it possible to create a template file (.rte) from a .rvt file that has been broken out into worksets? I am getting the following message and am wondering if I might be going about this in the wrong way.

"worksharing may not be enabled for template files (*.rte)"
"file not saved"

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Apparently this is true. Some of the content can be transferred to a new (single user) project using “Transfer Project Standards”. Additionally, use “Insert from File” to transfer sheets, views, schedules, etc. from the work-shared file.

Is there anyway to transfer views? I managed to transfer view templates and drafting views, but can't manage to transfer other views such as floor plans and 3D views. Is this a wish list item?
