View Full Version : Mixing Unit types in a Formula

I'm trying to create a formula in my room schedule so that i can have ceiling heights listed.

I calculated the area of the ceilings by taking volume/area and then created additional parameters to calculate both the Integer and the Real (i.e. Number). I did this so that I could compare the numbers in order to determine if they were equal to each other. If not, meaning the ceiling height varies, I would like to have the word "varies" appear in the schedule instead of a number.

The only way I can think to do this would be to combine unit types in a parameter... but I can't (or can I?).

About the best I've been able to come up with is to have it list a ceiling height of 0'-0" and then use a typed note in the comment field to indicate the ceiling condition.

Thoughts?

What you could do is make another calculated value column in the schedule (text) and for the formula set an if(int value=real value, constant, varies) where constant & varies are text params containing whatever text you wanted to see in the column.

Thanks for confirming.

I tried your approach and I think it's a decent workaround... better than a "meaningless number" and manual notation at least.

btw... this is my 100 post! Yippee!
