Linked DWG files dont export?

Is it just for me or for everybody but do linked Dwg files never export to Dwg from Revit? Is there a reason for this, or is there bug?

Its easy enough to get round, I just pick "import" in linked file manager and then they appear in the cad file - but its something I forget to do almost every time..............

Its because they allready are dwgs. It is truely an XREF. So it will be linked into your xported revit dwg, just like it was linked to your revit model.

Hmm. must be something to do with our network maybe? but they dont appear in the dwg file. Thanks scott, will look into it.

I was running into this problem, too. Got a call from tech support and they suggested that I make sure that the revit model, the dwg import files and the export files were all in the same folder. We have a rather complicated project folder structure, but when I did what TS suggested my problem went away.

I've been exporting views to dwg successfully (still in 8.1) even though I have a number of linked dwg files in various folders. I have my paths set to relative, although for some obscure reason, some show a relative path and some show a full path, even though they're all set to relative.
When I get to the Export dialog, I noticed that if I check the "Export each view or sheet as a single file" option, the exported file contains the original linked dwg files as xrefs in it (not bound or inserted), which is what I typically want. Linked RVT models become part of the exported dwg. If the above mentioned option is left unchecked, the linked dwg files are re-created with different names, placed in the export folders and x-ref'd into the main exported dwg.

Ok, I am now working in the latest build of Revit 9 and linked dwg's are not behaving the same in exported dwgs. I have all my linked dwgs set to relative pathing. I am exporting using the "Export each view or sheet as a single file" option. The exported files contain the model geometry and the linked Revit Structure view embedded in the file but there are no xref'd dwgs, unlike before in 8.1 (see my previous post above). Is anyone experiencing this?

Also, a little update about my linked dwg's showing a full path when set to relative. I filed a support request and in the process I discovered that it's due to some UNC issue. The files that would not show a relative path had the full path with the drive letter. After doing a Reload From and using the full UNC path to locate the dwg, the relative path started working.
