I can link a dwg file to a drafting view OK but the option to link it to "current view only" is greyed out. I continue and complete the link but the result is that the linked dwg file becomes listed under VG Visibility Graphics - Imported Categories for every view, plan, section, elevation etc in the entire project. This seems odd.

If I link a dwg into a plan view I can restrict the linked file to "current view only" which is as I would expect.

Do other people have "current view only" greyed out when linking dwg into an existing drafting view? Is it a bug?

Thanks

I think that the current view only is greyed out and defaulted to the on condition because objects and geometry created in a drafting view is only visible in that view and not in any other view (unless you count sheets as views!) unlike, say, lines (model lines) drawn in level 1 are visible in 3d.

You may also notice that if you link to current view only in level 1, you still see the linked object under VG for all other views. Therefore VG --- Imported categories displays all imports regardless of the view into which they were imported. It would be much better if Revit only showed you the imports that are possible to display under VG...Wishlist perhaps?
