Revit 9 Project Template

I saved my template file from 8.1 to 9, did a little house-cleaning and checked the file size. It has gone from a 2 MB file to almost 11 MB. I added almost no content other than a few additional title blocks. Any suggestions?

Do you mind sharing your 8.1 and 9 templates?

Well so far I have noticed that all the content families are at least 50% larger than the same content families from previous versions.

I have started a new office template from scratch in version 9, but in the meantime I just upgraded the 8.1 version to 9. In the process of upgrading versions, my template file size went from 6,096 KB for v8.1 to 6,076 KB for v9, without doing anything to in the template itself.

Perhaps because the default Revit 9 templates have a lot of content loaded in them to start with?

Do a "save as" and close the template, the file size will reduce to normal.

Oh yes I forgot about that. Do Save As, and in the Options box make sure Compact File is checked.
