I have a precast concrete wall with some sweep profiles in the wall type. I need to add some reveals for panel joints, but of course those won't cut through the precast profiles. Is there any way to make these reveals in the precast profile portion of the wall, besides doing an in-place void? It would be nice if there was a way to split a profile sweep so that I would have the blue handles to drag apart slightly.

curtain walls were made with precast in mind. create curtain panels in the shape of the precast, just like they would be fabricated, you can even embed your steel connections if you want to get fancy. Then set up a curtain wall type using this panel and the propre spacing.

Are you talking about tilt-up walls? I'm working on one now. I found that using "curtain walls" was problematic. I used a basic concrete wall, and a wall-based family for panel joints- easy to move around, dimension, and automatically cuts horiz. reveals.

How have you dealt with wall panels that aren't the full width of the "grid"? More clearly, how have you been able to move the grid so that the end panels are on the correct side of the building? We have been creating curtain systems with, say, a 12' spacing. Then we create a separate individual wall at the ends to make up the difference. Does that sound right?

Yes that is how I have done tilt-up panels in the past.
However what I'm doing now will have cornice profiles in the wall type at both the base and the top of the wall. Wall-based reveals won't cut the profiles.

the curtain system sets the basic spacing, then you just select a grid line, un pin it and move it as necessary. Or click the curtain grid tool and add more joints.

Oops, you're right about reveals. I've been ignoring that.
Maybe curtain walls are worth looking into again.
I did some more experimenting and they seem to work OK now. hmmm
I had some problems getting revit to recognize them as 'bearing' walls before.

Wall-based reveals won't cut the profiles.

i also tried curtain walls for my precast, but i'm always having problems with getting room boundaries to recognize. something about the curtain wall. i usually have to place room separation lines inside the walls to get my rooms to work. not very good workflow...
