Is it possible to schedule nested families in a line based family?
ie. parking stripes.

are you looking to schedule length of the lines? there is already a schedule that will handle parking stalls if you sue the site tools and look in the site library.

Sorry, I mean '2-pick' family components in R9. Would work great for parking if I can create a parking count schedule.

i see what you are doing, but REVIT already has parking componants (load a site componant and you will see parking). You then can create a schedule that counts them.
Pretty much the same thing that you are trying to do, but is already done.

I haven't tried this but can't you nest the parking component into the line based family, set up your array in there. You would have to make the parking component shared first but as long as it is shared it will schedule... The bad part is you wouldn't be able to place just one space because the array would fail, unless you did some tricks... Hmm...

Sorry, scratch that thought, but I found an interesting bug to report....

I like the idea of line based parking placement - you could easily draw an infinite number of spaces in no time.
If anyone wants a p-space that I think is better than Revit's I attached the one I built.
its more flexible and HC is an instance parameter

good example on how you can go out and create content that works for you.

Steve, you've got the idea. I've attached my example.
Its a lot faster to draw parking spaces this way than by grouping and arraying them.

I like this approach but it comes back to the main question of this thread "scheduling line based rfa". In your example you can not schedule idividual parking stalls, just each instance of the array.

JustinMake the nested family shared then the spaces will schedule, but you will need to filter out the array family from the schedule.

Ahhh, that did it! And now I understand 'sharing'.
Now think of the possibilities! Locker rooms, rack layouts, seating, plumbing fixtures..
umm, I got nothin else.
