In some schedules it would be great to have a hidden field that does not show on the sheet, but still visible on the view. Sometimes i add a field as a "check" field that i dont want to print, just to have for reference.
Anyone know how to do this?

Would be nice to have but it is not possible at this point. What I do is have a MASTER schedule of some of these types of schedules with most of the fields available. I use them to edit data and use the others with hidden fields for publishing. That way i can go to the MASTER window schedule and change the hardware set, width whatever and know that my published version is up to date and I don't have to fiddle with unhiding and hiding fields. Make sense?

Our solution is similar - the only difference is that we have found loading this into our standard template is best for our users. Many are starting their first Revit project and only a handful have moved to second or third projects. All common schedules (ROOM FINISH SCHEDULE, DOOR SCHEDULE, INDEX) are preloaded and placed on our A600 sheets and the index. Each has a "partner" schedule (our choice was to name these Index Manager, Door Schedule Manager, Room Finish Schedule Manager and similar). This was particularly useful when we started getting into phased projects and phase filters and multiple schedules on different sheets for different phases. Our "manager" schedules are a great QC tool and gives less tech-savvy senior staff a handful of places to look for an overview of just about everything. We also hope eventually to use this so our admin staff can do spelling and syntax QC (painfully not a strength for our architectural staff).

Not exactly high-tech, but how about just making the column really skinny?
I've done that before when I didn't want to mess around with changing one of our standard schedules. Just Zoom in really close and put the two blue triangle as close as you can get them. Usually leaves a heavier line in the schedule, but you won't see the field.
