We have a project which has a project elevation of 0'-0" for the Top of First Floor, and two sets of Shared Coordinates, one at 610'-0" which is it's true height and is used on all survey information and 100'-0" which is used for all the drawings so that we don't have any negative values for elevations.

As far as I know, there isn't an easy way to move the project datum up 100', so I set up two sets of shared coordinates.

using:
Setting>Manage Place and Locations> (to create a second set of shared coord's)
and
Tools> Shared coordinates> Specify Coordinates at a point. (to change the height of the new shared coordinates)

Now each set of shared coordinates relates correctly to the site, campus, and structural drawings (which is where the 100' datum comes from), but how do I use one set of shared coordinates on some sheets and the other on the rest?

Please tell me it's right there and I'm just missing it.

Wow, Andre, we are experiencing another issue related to shared coordinates. We have very similar multiple buildings (small) on one site and we don't want to use linked files. Here is our dilema:

Our project contains multiple similar buildings. They all are placed at different elevations on the site. Each building is on a workset which includes the levels associated with that building. The levels relate to civil datums. We would like each building to show the floor at 100'-0". We would also like to use one set of details and sections for all buildings.

I think the only way to solve the first issue (100'-0") is to use linked files and shared coordinates. This means each building should have it's own set of sheets.

The way to solve the second issue is to keep all of the buildings in the same project so that mulitple tags on each building can reference the same set of views.

These two issues directly conflict with each other. I don't know how to remedy this either.

My current work around it to use the shared coordinates at 100'-0" for all of the architectural and structural drawings. For the architectural site plan, I used "relative" as the value for the contour lines so that from level 1 they all count up or down, and then a large note which says that Level 1 100'-0" = 610'-0" Above Sea Level. The civil drawings are coming from a consultant so they'll use the correct datums and structural will use the same 100'-0" as us. I've logged this as a complaint to Autodesk.

Regarding your issue... hmm. My gut says to create 1 building with all the details in it and then link the other buildings back into the original and do all you tagging there.

Sounds like an idea. I'm going to look into it. Thanks
