Making a live copy of central file

Hi all

I have a workseted project which I am now adapting to a second version under a different job title. I want to keep the current central file with its local copies on each PC still alive as thet are still being worked on. However, I want to copy the central file, rename it and place it it the new job folder so it become a totally seperate central file and then create new local copies so I can run this as a different project.

What is best practice for making a copy of the central model.

Just copy the central file to a new location, rename it. then when you start to open the file make sure you check the box "detach from central" before for you select the file. Once you have it open then save to central and you are off and running with a totally separate project.

Or, just open the current central file, do a Save As, and in the options box click the Make Central File box so that it is checked, and save it to whatever location you want it.
