View Full Version : No delete view warning??

I just right-clicked on a detail view to rename it, and accidentally clicked on Delete instead. The detail disappeared with no warning that it was about to be deleted, and for some reason that action also prompted all recent Undo history to be purged out. So I can't undo the Delete action to get it back.

Unfortunately I have not saved to central since I last modified it. :(

Is it not supposed to warn me before I delete a view like that?

I recently noticed something similar. I deleted a view that was on a sheet and it didn't issue a warning either. And, same as your case, I couldn't undo!! I'm not sure if this is a bug in RB9 or if it was there in previous versions, but it sure is extremely dangerous.

Lucky for me I had not changed the view much, and I just opened the central file alongside my local file, re-created the view and copied and pasted the detail items from the central file into my file, closed the central file and then saved my stuff to central. But still, it was quite an inconvenience.

Ditto here. I freaked when that happened and I couldn't undo. This can be a really dangerous, ie potentially very expensive, mistake. Is this a Workset enabled project issue?

Aside from the lack of undo, we really need this command moved to the bottom of the contextual menu and to have a confirmation dialog box.

Yeah I hate that - there is nothing that you can do.

I recommend never ever using the right click to rename a view - instead click the view/sheet name and hit F2.

It is actually easier and once its routine you won't delete any more.

As Steve will say have you sent this to support yet? I'm positive that they would want to be aware of something like this. I haven't tried to delete a view recently so I can't confirm if it does the same but enough people have noticed this to warrant a report to the factory.

Not yet...it's on my SR list, but I've been sending quite a few lately haha. I will though ASAP.
