For the record: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HORIZONTAL MULLION; a horizontal window framing element is called a muntin. When creating the profile for a muntin, there is nothing in the "mullion" family which tells me which way is up, grumble, gripe. (Down is to the left in the profile.)

As far as I can see in Revit the mullion command refers to curtain walls and sloped glazing. It may be unfortunate that this term conflicts with the terminology of windows. However in the UK the horizontal framing element of a window is called a transom (I think).
I understand why the programmers chose a single word for the elements that separate the panels of curtain walls and sloped glazing, as the grid can be rotated and therefore is neither horizontal or vertical. So in Revit there are such things as horizontal mullions.
