Creating Details Using Detail Components

I am creating a detail using detail component. Part of the detail is existing and the rest is new work. The problem is i like to show the existing component lighter than the new but can't figure out away to accomplish this task. Any suggestion

You can use graphic overides to set linetypes to screened or grey lines or create different linestyles to illustrate new and existing work

If I understand correctly, you are creating a detail using a drafting view and not a detail view. In other words, you are creating a detail that is not based on the model. If this is the case, you can create new line styles like (E) Thin Lines, (E) Medium Lines, (E) Thick Lines. In the line weight you can pick a color to give the shaded look and a line weight of your choice. Thats what I would do. If you are cutting the detail from the model, use phases to show the existing work as shaded. This is automatic when using phases.
