My temp dims are too small to see. Changing the scale of the view does nothing.Real dimensions and real text is the correct scale. For the time being, I can read the dimension in the options bar--but too small on screen.

Unfortunately temp/sketch dimensions are what they are at all zoom levels and scales. At this point there is no way to change them. I believe it has been on the wish list for some time now.

Did you select the object then zoom out ?

I'm talking about the tape measure command/button. The temporary dimensions created by this command are the ones that are too small.

Mine work fine... they scale with the zoom level. I can't replicate your problem with the tape measure.

Both (what I call) temp dimensions and tape measure dimensions stay the same size relative to the screen - that is, as you zoom in or out, the dimension size remains constant and readable, so...not understanding the problem...

well for some of us, me included (and I don't even wear or need glasses) the size of the temp dimension text on the screen is pretty darn small, especially when you use 1280x1024 or higher resolution. Sometimes I have to lean forward in my chair to make out the dimension.

yeah this sucks but at 1600 X 1200 its quite hard to see temp dimensions.....what we generally do is just enlarge the text of actual dimensions..
Its not perfect but when working we enlarge them or decrease them based on the scale so we can work more efficiently.
This is just not a revit problem, been a problem with all other programs

I'm using 1920x1200 and have no trouble @ 3 feet from the screen. I do not have corrective lenses. I can see that it might be troublesome for some. Put it on the wishlist. Maybe something to suggest would be have it controlled by the a Windows settings that control Font styles and sizes for menus or tool bar fonts. I tried changing all my font sizes in windows and none had an effect.

Agree that they are too small & text is very thin & difficult to read especially over loads of lines & hatches
I use glasses all the time & I still use 1024 res because of poor eyesight & even with leaning in grabbing a magnifying glass I still have difficulty reading them sometimes & the colour does not stand out well enough
The Tape measure tool is a very good idea but not as useful as it could be because of this

It would also help if temp dimensions had an opaque background behind the text.

I attach a screenshot of the readability that I get ~ I agree that opaque would help but the text size still should be larger
My temp dims are small, but not near that small. That is getting close to be considered a bug, unless it is that way by design.
