Beam Splices

Has anyone developed a good way of showing beam splices in plan (e.g., a beam cantilevers over a column and splices into the end of another beam)

I've searched the AUGI and Autodesk forums and can't find any posts on the subject. That makes me wonder if it's just painfully obvious and I'm just not seeing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've just used linework, but you got me thinking and I started to look at a family based solution; it seems promising. So no, you're not missing it; it's just not there. If I can get the family to where it's not embarassing I'll post it here when it's finished.
