I am in the process of setting up AutoCAD 2006 for the office. I am just about done, but I have run into a glitch with the workspace feature. I set up a workspace called Default, that will be the office defauilt workspace. This workspace loads the the appropriate menus and tools bars. I have the CUI set up to load this workspace when AutoCAD opens. The only problem is it doesn't work. When AutoCAD opens only some of the menus & toolbars defined the the default work space appear on screen. I then have to go to the workspace pulldown menu and select the default workspace. Then it places all the correct menus & toolbars on screen. Is this a bug?

Any help or work arounds for this problem are welcomed.

No, don't change "acad2000doc.lsp", that file is owned by AutoCAD (meaning your changes can be overwritten). See [ http://support.autodesk.com/getdoc.asp?ID=TS21336 ] for more info.

Create your own "acaddoc.lsp", put it in any directory that is included in your support file search path, but preferably follow these tips [ http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/2006/07/autocad-customization-setup-and.html ] for ease of future migration

Might wanna take a look at this (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=5837292&linkID=2475161) and this (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=5571150&linkID=2475161)
(Update for CUI, and Service Pack 1)

I was cautioned to install these fixes before messing with the CUI.

...if you have already.....nevermind :)

Thanks for the help guy's, it seems to be working (for the moment).

I have one more question. Where can I define what linetype file I want Acad to use as a defualt. Currently it is looking to the C:\documents & setting\user directory for the linetype file. I want all users to use a central linetype file on the sever.

This should explain it

(Just substitute your server path for C:\CADSTUFF)

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for there help. Following the links & advice here, I have solved my original problem. But it has created another one.

Do date, I have done the following:
I created a office customazation lsp file that Autoloads all of the custom lsp and arx file our office uses. That file along with all the custom content is located in a folder in the search path

In that lsp file I added a string to make our defualt work space active when AutoCAD opens. It works like a charm.

In the office standard enterprise CUI file, I have the office custom lsp file set to Autoload.

The first time I open AutoCAD and work on a file, everything is fine. The correct workspace loads, all the custom lisp and arx load as well and work fine. But if I close that drawing file, leave AutoCAD open & re-open a new file, the work space loads with a few bugs, and none of the custom lisp / arx load. Any ideas?

Options>>System>> Check load acad.lsp with every drawing.

That was it, Thanks!

I feel so stupid! I am spending so much time trying to get a handle on the CUI, that I keep overlooking the little things.
