View Full Version : Section marks and reference view

Today I tried to finish a project. I had my model all done in Revit. Details were all done in Acad. I brought in the details (each one individually) by linking them into a "Drafting View". I then placed them on a sheet. I only ran across a few minor glitches, like Plines have no width when imported. I then began to make put my section cuts and bubble callouts on my views of the revit model. (This is where the meltdown starts) I select the OOTB callout tool, pick the little check box to "reference other view", select the view (so far so good) then I created my little bubble, the tag filled in with the correct detail number and sheet, but I noticed that it also said "sim" next to it. Well for this particular callout I needed it to say TYP. So I highlight the callout, go to properties, edit, duplicate, and change the "type" name to "detail02", go to the where it says "reference label" and changed it to TYP. Of course now all of the callouts that I have placed that used to say sim, now say TYP. I tried to change them back to detail 1, but it never stuck.
Anyone else run it to this. For some reason I can get one tag to say "sim" and another to say "typ"
Thanks in advance.

Yep - that was broken back around R7. Used to work great. Now they all must say the same thing. So of course we don't use that feature and just place text.

...So of course we don't use that feature and just place text...Which means you can't trust any of them to be correct anymore  I prefer "grinning and bearing" it so at least I don't have to trust those that say SIM, TYP or OPP...

I can't tell you. I kinda gave up on that program for a while. I haven't touched it since 2006. I think that was RS3 or 4. Can't remember.

It is still a type parameter in 09 unfortunately :(

Well I know it works for referencing drafting views, at least in Revit Architecture 2009. I just made 2 separate section types for referencing drafting views. One has Sim on it, and the other one has Typ on it. I have one of each sitting on a plan view right now.

And it works for referencing model sections, as well! Woohoo thank you factory for bringing that back!

No - that's the way it has been since they broke it...

What you can't do is cut a section with a sim. and then place place a reference symbol with an opp. hand pointing to the same detail. They will all say sim. Which is just plain wrong. And so very Autodesk.... Broke now for what? 3-4 Years?
