View Full Version : Re-tag a section

We have a section that still shows up in the Building Section list, but the tag seems to be missing from every plan view. I checked for a wonky setting of Hide in View Courser Than... But that doesn't seem to be it.

So first off, is there a known issue/method/mistake where a section tag can disappear and yet leave the section view?

And if not, is there a method to re-tag the section?

Thanks,
Gordon

Check to see it is not a int. Elevation view stretched out to show as a section.

I am not sure I understand. The view in question shows up in the Sections (Building Section) part of the Project Browser. I assume this means the view has to be a section? Also, the Section tag did exist at one time. It has just disappeared, and we aren't sure when. I am hopeful that the section bubble is still lurking there somewhere, but failing that I hope we can re-tag, because there are plenty of notes and other work that have gone into the section view, and I would hate to have to recreate all that.

Crossed fingers.

Best,
Gordon

Was the section created in an area plan by accident? I believe that will keep it from showing up in a true floor plan.

Go to View > Visibilty/Graphics... > Annotation Categories and see if Section is unchecked.
If it is, then check it and go to plan view and look for your section reference.

I should mention, only the one Section bubble is missing. the other sections are showing up fine in the plan views. I believe that eliminates the visibility/graphics possibility, but perhaps not? I will check in the AM.

The other thing I could think of is the section reference could be outside beyond the crop region and not showing.

Did you check the phase created parameter for the section? If it is different than the view you hope to see it in it won't show.

You may be on to something Steve. We had done some wonky things with phases to get a "staged construction" series of images, and had recently taken everything back to simpe phasing. I had not thought of the section itself being phased, but it does seem like phasing sneaks in and does a bunch of stuff I just don't understand yet.
I assume I can check the phase via properties of the section in Project Browser? I will make sure the crop regions are checked as well, per Firmso.

Another culprit may be the view scale in the section properties - you can make the section turn off when the drawing scale gets coarser than what it is set at. You can test this by changing the scale of the drawing to something very fine (1/4" usually does it), see if it appears, then do ctrl-z. If so, you can change that property in the view property for the section, I think (I'm not in front of it right now...)

Good Luck.

Another possibility, especially if several people are working on the project, is the "hide annotation in view" option that someone may have clicked. If you right click on a section tag or any annotation you get the option to hide it and only it in that view. If you hover over its location it will pre-highlight the hidden annotation. You can then right-click and select "show annotation in view". I'm not sure of a way to show all the hidden ones in case you can't find and prehighlight it.

Nail on the head Steve. We also have a Option phase which follows the New phase, and the section was showing the option, while the plan was showing new. So we have our section bubble back, but now have an issue with design options that I haven't figured out. I will post that seperately.
