RCP view problem

I have an RCP view that appears to be in wireframe, even though it is set to Hidden Line. I can actually switch back and forth between the two and the view looks exactly the same. I can see my roof hip lines through my soffit, I can see the edges of the gutter and soffit through my downspouts, all while set to Hidden Line view mode. Anyone had this problem?

Also Underlay is set to None in the view.

try creating a new view (RCP) of that level and see if it "clears up" in the new view.

No dice, created a new RCP view of the same level and it still appears as wire frame even though it is set to hidden line.

I tried changing the view to Shaded with Edges and that doesn't show correctly, either. I have a few brackets underneath my soffit and also downspouts which show as solid opaque gray in other views, but in this RCP it shows as clear transparent (both downspout and bracket are visible through one another).
