I did a quick search and i didn't find this problem but if its been discussed apologies in advance.

Problem is I made a detail item out of a filled region. Set up reference planes and made instance family parameters out of width and length. Detail item displays fine in project however when family parameters are changed the fill pattern disappears. When the family is opened for editing the fill pattern has disappeared from the family.

This problem is new to v9.0 as far as I can tell.

If anyone has any solutions/advice your input would be much appreciated.

It's be nice if Autodesk paid a bit more attention to fine tuning and de-bugging existing features rather than adding minor new ones.

Word to Y'all

Seems to work fine here.

Maybe a view scale problem?

Works fine here too.
Did your project already have a fill pattern called Gypsum defined?

You might also consider doing this as a line based detail component.

Works here also. I Couldn't find anything that was causing the problem.
Although, it is possible you could be confusing this pattern with another that may be too similar. Do a little investigating.
That's all.

I realize this is a very old post, but I am having the same problem. I cannot find anything more recent pertaining to this issue. I tried a line based family, as suggested, and still have the same issue. I also tried creating a new hatch pattern, so there would definitely be no confusion. I have messed with every setting I can think of - does anyone have any suggestions?! Thanks!

I did find a little more info elsewhere: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=63883&highlight=fill+pattern+problem

It seems if you use a Model Fill Pattern (you have to create your own, because they don't exist in the Detail Item Template) it works just fine.
