just want to make sure im doing things right. what is the best way to bring in autocad linework/blocks. i have a couple of samples to give me an idea.

glass block - elevations
wheelchair block- floor plans

do i need to create a family? do i bring it in directly then create a group? or other methods if there is one.

I don't know of a magic bullet - I just do it the basic way - bring the object into a view, explode it, change the linestyles, then save it to a view file. Time consuming at first, but it will be right in the future. There is probably a way at least through an API to map lines on certain layers to a particular line style to do some kind of batch conversion, but I'm not that sophistocated.

Good luck

Are you using 9.0? Right click on the view name and at the bottom is the option to Save to new file. Works great on linework - it has some limitations when using it for other Revit stuff - mostly related to nested groups.
