Hi all, I did my first color room schedule doohicky yesterday, and I have a few questions hope someone can help.

1. I noticed that you can extend the room boundry up multiple floors, which I thought would be great for stairs, but my stairs are not straight shafts some walls are not in the same vertical plane, how can I make the colors bleed around in uneven multi storey rooms?

2. Similar question, I have a corridor that goes through an "opening" in a wall, but the room definition stops at the wall. For a temp fix I made another room and deleted the tag, but it will show up on the schedule, and won't calc areas properly. Can I manually edit the room boundry, and force it past the opening? I know that I can take the bounding parameter off the wall, but that would affect a dozen rooms.

3. I have some objects that are blocking the color like cafeteria tables and the elevator. The white blobs really pop out, is there a quick fix for that?

4. I think I remember reading this somewhere, but is there an easy way to make all the walls solid black in these views so there is no white space?

5. I was having a really hard time tracking room information across the schedules cause I was tired and my eyes were blurry. Is there a way to lightly shade every other row so that I can easily follow information across the sheet?

Thanks for any help folks.

Ok, so I found this blog about the topic:

http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_revitoped_archive.html

There are three techniques described for what I want, and none seem to be working. The opening I am using was created from the modeling->opening tab, but it is not allowing the room to flow. I tried the edit profile, but it is greyed out, possibly because the wall is a stacked wall??? And because of the stacked wall I really want to try and stay away from the cutting and drawing a wall above idea.

Anyone have any thoughts, I am really stumped. Thanks!

patagoniadave,

here's a couple of ideas:
1. split the wall and make just that portion non-room bounding.
2. make an area plan instead.
3. did you use a family opening or the tool opening on the modelling tab of the design bar? the opening tool seems to work. the family opening causes it be a separate room....

hope that helps you.

f.y.i. in cas anyone else runs into this issue, Steve Stafford helped me figure this out on his blog. The stacked walls with modelled openings don't allow the room to flow (at least thats what I understood) and the reason that the edit profile wasn't working is that the wall was pinned. Thanks all!
