footings never where I want them!

O.k. I sure hope that I am missing something but when I start a project I naturally draw walls on level 1 (usually renaming the level to first floor) and then later I come back and add a stem wall below this level and then footings. But the footings always associate themselves with level 1! I can not figure out how to move the footing down. It has no constraint information in the element properties like a wall does. Madness!! Does this all mean that I need to initially add levels above level 1 to generate floor plan walls and treat level 1 as the footing level?

I use a separate level for bottom of footings and work my foundation wall up from that level. To create footings, check out the footing command under structures. It works slick!
