Hi all

I have a site plan imported from autocad and have set theaquired the co-ordinates from the acad survey so that in revit my spot coordinates are correct.

I have created a topo surface from the 3D survey - all fine - looking good.

Also I have imported two revit building into my site plan, positioned them on my site - published the co-ordinates (Building 1 & Building 2) so that when i go into my revit building elevations I can see the level height on site (using manage place & location)
BUT...... I knew it was going too well.

The building position in Z elevation are correct and if i check the spot co-ordinate (Easting/Northing) in the site plan they are correct....

But if i go into the site models and check the site co-ordinate (Easting/Northing) they are different to their position in the site plan even though I have set the manage place and locations to the correct (Building 1 or Building 2)

Anyone have any ideas - its driving me crazy.

Thanks - Dave

Did you publish Revit coordinates to Autocad dwg or acquired dwg coordinates into Revit. If you want to use surveyor coordinates then you should have acquired not published.

Thanks for reply Leonid

Because I am using true and project north I have had to use the specify co ordinates at a point tool in my revit site plan to ensure my easting / northings are correct based on the imported AutoCad survey.

So the site plan easting/northing are correct - I import / link a building into my site, move it in X,Y & Z to where I want it to be then publish the co-ordianates back to the building model under the name "Position of building 1"

When I am in the building model and use the co-ordinates "Position of building model1" the elevation is correct but in plan the easting and northing are incorrect.

Please does anyone know what I am doing wrong.

Dave

It is not clear what exact steps did you take. Depending on these steps dwg could have moved together with revit project when you specified coordinates at a point. I think the only reliable way to inherit surveyor coordinates from dwg is to use acquire coordinates command.

Given the amount of confusion surrounding this topic may be I should write a tutorial.

Once Again Leonid thanks for the reply.

I often use the aquire co-ordinates function - work fine as long as you are not using True North & Project North.

I have found that if a survey is imported/linked into Revit and True / North are being used if the view is set to show ture north (therefore survey looks correct on screen) when you use aquire co-ordinates the survey rotates itself for some reason.

This is why I have used specify co-ordinates at a point.

I am still looking into this - again many thanks for your input - if anyone has any other ideas why this is happening please let me know.

Regards

Dave
