Can you create or at least edit an mvpart in ABS?
Let's say you want to have the diffuser set so that an architect is happy with it by seeing only a box with an "X" in it instead of the diffuser. Can this be done?

I uploaded a word file with snapshots of the process

First you have to make a block of the rectangle w/X in it. Save this block by itself in a drawing, give the drawing a unique and useful title. 1)Open your Content builder 2)I would click on diffuser under Mechanical Air Terminal 3)click on New Block Part top right hand button in content builder. 4)Name part and click OK 5)then you'll have to pick the type(Air Terminal) of part, layer key(I used custom duct fitting) and a subtype(diffuser). 6)Click next 7)then you'll have to click on the button Add Part Size 8}Select your block you made for the Model block pull down. Then down in the lower right had corner there is a pull down with a default setting of None. 9)Change that to be your block you made. 10)Then click on generate blocks and another dialogue box will show up 11)hit the button that says all directions and click OK. Click Next. 12)Then you'll have to assign a preview image for your New MVPart. In this particular case I would make a Image of a rectangle with an X in it w/a program of your choice instead of generating an image based on the model block. Click next. Now you can add your connectors. 13)Right Click on the MvPart Family and pick add duct connector. 14)Now right click on the new connector and edit the placement of the connector. I'm not explaining this step your better off playing with it to understand it. After editing your placement of your connector click next and 15)click on edit properties and give it a good description. Hope this helps and doesn't  U

I would suggest not editing parts that came with ABS.

You certainly can modify the OOTB MvParts in the ABS catalog, but I would suggest copying the part. You don't lose the original part and it's appearance. Plus, it gives you a much better starting point than a new part, and requires less work. I put together a video showing the process for this, which is attached below.

Let me know if you have questions.

I just posted in another thread that CADMAMA had a question on MvParts. I'll copy the websites across that I had found were pretty helpful concerning MvParts.

Avatech has a couple really helpful items on this under tech tips. There is a 3 part "how to" done by a great ABS "guru", Todd Shackelford. Scroll down to "Building systems: Make a Block-sized MvPart". This is how to build one from scratch:
http://www.avat.com/training/elearn...tion.asp?sgid=2

Here is some other info on the Autodesk website:

Hope this helps!
