Normally when you use the linework tool on a line you get two blue dots (one at each end) that you can use to determine the effective length of the linework override, but the blue dots don't seem to show up when changing the linework of walls in plan view. Is there a reason for this or is this a bug in Revit 9?

Not the definitive answer but the lack of dots is confined to Faces as opposed to Edges.

Under some circumstances (in Section views for example and a roof made by Pick Walls) Revit may offer you an Edge or Face when you use the TAB key to toggle the element's line to override.

When you choose to apply it to an Edge Revit WILL display a DOT. Choose a Face, no DOT.

In plans I've not seen such an offering made, just Faces.

I have discussed this with "people in the know" (Factory) and they state that the "no dot" situation occurs when using the Linework tool on any item that is being cut through, as in the case of a plan or section. The dots WILL appear when using the Linework tool on anything shown in projection.
