Historically, the CAD technician at my company had apparently used measured the scaled distances on the hardcopy alignment sheets and used those measurements to create .dwgs. In a few months we will have access to a large scanning copier. Do you have any recommendations concerning the practice of scanning those alignment sheets, rubbersheeting the images (with Raster Design), and then updating the data on the .dwgs using the points represented in the images? Ideally, we would collect GPS coord. for each and every point, but realistically, I was concerned if the use of the scanned images would really be an improvement in accuracy.
Thank you for your consideration,
Keri
