Material Take off.....

Hello everyone,
i have created a wall with different layers for finishes on the exterior as well as interiors now what i want is instead of splitting the wall in the properties dialogue box i tried using split face option from the tool bar ,now when i paint the face of wall with 2 diff material for dado tiles it does not update the earlier material area quantity though it adds the new material in the quantity.
can anyone help me out with this issue.

Hummmm. Interesting.

Without the split face the wall has 131 sq. m. of paint. Add in the split face and the paint jumps to 184 sq. m. It looks like the wall is keeping the original wall surface under the split face. Then add in the tile and the paint goes down to 131 sq. m again and the tile is 53 sq. m.

This all looks like a bug to me....
