when viewing a building section, are you able to alter the "far clip offset" for different portions of your drawing? or even in a wall section where you might want to see something beyond in one part of the wall but not the whole thing....

Nope, not possible. I recently posted a wish for a "plan region" tool that could be used in elevations and sections to vary the view depth in different parts of the view.
