In AutoCAD 14 there is a command lman. I have tried to find in LT2004 and only come across layer states which is either it and I am using it wrong or its called something else. Does anyone know how to use this feature sn LT2004?

Thanks

Layer States are the built in version of LMAN. LMAN is part of the express or bonus tools. Which is not a part of AutoCAD LT.

To use it, just set up your layer how you want them. Click on "Save State" in the layer manger, and give it a name. Then you can go into the Layer State Manager and restore the state.

That is what I was doing but when I go into Layer State Manager to restore it does not restore anything. Could there be a step I am missing?

Have you mad sure that you have all the options checked in the save layer state dialog box?

This is probably what I am doing wrong. I am only selecting on/off figuring it keeps the layers that are on at that time on and those that are off to be kept off in that state. When I close out, make changes for the next group of layers to be on, I go in create new. If I try switching to the first one created it shows everything that I had on.

gpope was correct. I did not verify if I was using freeze/thaw or on/off. After rereading his comment I did look and figured it out.

Hi

As it's already been pointed out to yourself each has Pros & Cons -

three different layer managers ????? (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=12021)

It really is a personal choice, I recommend you experiment with all three then make a decision on which one works best for your needs/requirements.

Have a good one, Mike

this thread is pretty old, and I believe that they did away with the old LMAN layer manager back in 07 or so when the incorporated the layer express tools into the core product. I think that if you use layer to view the layer states manager (third button from the left in '11) you may be able to restore LMAN layer states that have been converted to the newer format.
