Shared Parameter Question

Are there any guidelines when to use and not use Shared Parameters?

Is there a performance hit or a memory hit if you use Shared Parameters?

You use a shared parameter when the stock ones don't get you what you need and you need it in a tag as well as in a schedule. It is also advisable that you come up with company standard shared parameters for your company. Since we do interiors work we have 2 that are applied to every category, Finish Type and Finish Number. Then we have floor tags, ceiling tags, etc that have these shared parameters in them. In 9.0 this may not be the way to go but I haven't had time to think about how to use 9.0's material tags in the same way we want finishes to schedule.
