Ref Planes do not print.

i need the guide lines for my detail sheets. i need them to help me layout and organize the details but don't want them to print. can use ref. planes for this application...?

If you need an invisible grid on your sheets, just draw lines using the invisible line type in the sheet family. Then when you're in a project, you can just pick them to draw actual black lines if you need them (the grid lines) to be visible.

Try experimenting with your printer/plotter and see what combination of line color/weight and pattern you can place on your sheet without it actually plotting. You can't place ref lines on sheet views but you can use detail lines.

If that doesn't work you can create two title block families for your detail sheets. One including layout lines, the other without. Once details are set up, or prior to plotting, you can quickly swap all of them with a select all instances
