View Full Version : Differences in AutoCAD 2006 or 07 Lite vs full versions

I'm a student and need cad program for my Space Planning Class. Have used briefly Autocad 2004/05 in school and now looking to purchase. Funds are at a premium and I'd like to know if there is a major downside to purchasing Autocad 2006 light version versus getting the full program?
Any thoughts on using educational versions since I do qualify versus using an older version of the full program?
Are there major differences (enhancements I really should have) in AutoCAD 2007 over some older versions?
Recommendations and feedback appreciated.
Thanks so much,
sharry

First, welcome aboard to AUGI!
Please note I'm moving this from the New Forum Users to the AutoCAD general forum.

Hi Sharry.
First a question - do you work in 2D or 3D? If Space Planning = facilities management, I'd guess 2D.
If 2D, the LT versions will probably be good enough.
Note that, if you use an educational version, any plotted drawings (and any drawings that descend from them) will carry a banner that says so. This is a no-no if you want to use the programme or any files created with the programme outside the educational field.
If money really is a problem then look for even cheaper (even free) CAD programmes.
A2007 introduced little that was new for 2D users.
