I have been working on a 1500 sf house. I have been value engineering ( deleting several items that the owner has decided he does not want). The file is getting larger and slower?
This seems counter intuitive. Any thoughts??

Have you purged unused? Are there any captured renderings or decals in the model? These are usually the culprits. I have seen this happen before. One time I had a model that was about 20 megs, I pretty much deleted the ENTIRE model, purged and then hit save and the size didn't change at all. If purging and removing unnecessary images doesn't work for you, you might want to send it to support.

Revit is doing some internal space management to improve the speed of file reading and writing. It results in sizes bigger then absolutely necessary. I would not worry too much about that (disk space is cheep). However you can try "save as" and save under different file name. This operation may reduce the file size noticeably.

Thank you both for your support.
I have purged( repeatedly) I don't have any captured images ( I save those separately). It is not just the size, but also the speed. It has gotten sooooo slow. I was thinking that the size might be related to the speed.
I will try a save as and send it to support if that doesn't work.
Thanks again

Just so you know the "save as " and renaming the file worked to reduce it to almost half.
It is operating much faster.
Thanks again for your help

Also if you eventually get into using central filing you do not want to do a save as because this will hurt your reliability on making sure the central file is the most up to date and uncorrupted. If you are using a central file you can simple go to file "Save to Central" in this option is a box that says "Compress File" this will reduce the file size of your central file. I generally do this when I am finished for the day or with the file because it does take a little longer. This also will only affect your central file so as a general practice at least once a week I have my office delete their local files and copy a new central to keep the local file sizes down as well.
