I have linked a DWG file to my Revit file and I am using it as a background. I imported it in as "Keep current colours" and now I want to change them. So I go to Object Styles and override the colours to grey. THEY DON'T CHANGE!!. So I figure maybe if I change the colour in the view under View Settings, THEY DON'T CHANGE!!. Am I doing something wrong? I could try to re-link it and try again, but I dont really want to as I have turned off and on certain layers in different views. HELP!!

Thanks in advance,

Check to make sure the dwg is drawn using "By Layer". For you to override them they have to be.

I think what Double 'A' did was to link a file with the color setting turned on (instead of set to make everything black & white)...I'm not sure if you can change that once you link the file.

Yea that is it exactly. I guess you cannot change it after you link the file. Dammit!!

Sure you can...as I said if the dwg is not drawn ByLayer you won't be able to override the layers inside Revit. That is the most likely reason you can't override it. When you override a layer you can always restore it to its original condition by choosing By Category.

Did you import this dwg more than once? If you did there is an individual reference to each "copy" and you'll have to override the correct one.

Thanks Steve....I didn't realize that you could simply change those colors through the subcategories of the imported categories. I have been linking in B&W so I wasn't sure and didn't have time to test.
