Can anyone recommend a good D size printer/copier?

Hello,

We are looking to purchase wide format printer/copier that will handle 36" roll paper.
Are there any models that you'd highly recommend?
Are there any models that you'd stay away from?

That's kind of like saying "I want to buy a car" Let's start with:


What is your budget?
How many square feet of media do you plot per month?


We have an Oce TDS800 that outputs about 150,000 sq.ft./month for us.
We also have an HP1050CP that we use just for color.

Quite a bit of difference in these two machines, and plenty of models in between them.

oooh yes - i love the HP1050 plotter series - high end quality - solid drivers - ok it aint cheap, but you don't need to have special coated paper (=expensive paper) to get the "plain" job done. Only the speed could be a better, i think ot was the C model - i could make up to 5 or 6 A0 sheets of color linedrawings.

we have an HP 800 42" that works really well. only real complaint we have with it is that you cant use 300 foot rolls of paper, only the 150 foot. on a busy day we can burn through 2 or 3 rolls of the 150 foot :(

when picking a plotter, like rk mentioned, the amount of media you will go through, and how many people will be using it are two of the biggest questions to deal with.
