Question?...I am trying to create a double door family that is able to have both doors swing in an animation in Max. My problem is that whenever I model the double door family, and then export it out to Max, Max displays the door as a whole object, and when I add a control to the double door in Max, both doors revolve around the center of the door, like a revolving door. I wanted to know if anyone knows if there is a way to create a door that isn't recognized as a whole object, but two objects, with control points on the actual hinge sides, so that when I export the door out to Max, I am able to swing them open in the animation, like they should in reality? Please help!!!!!

Well, fun stuff.
Your door family could be just the frame, then you could start with the generic model template and model the door leaf(s), and change it to be a door family. Then insert the leaf in the frame. Now you either have two or three objects, depending on how you approach it. You could also try nesting the leaf in the door frame family, but I don't know if that would resolve you Max problem. Nesting leafs into frames is something I actually want to do with all of our default content, because it should make it easier to switch different leafs with the same frame, which is more like actual practice in the built world.

I'll give that a shot and see what happens, thanks for the advice.

I know this may not be what you want, but....
I would try swapping out the door for a 3d Max door (Create>Doors). There is a double door in there that you can edit, etc. This is what I usually use for my animations if I want the door to open, etc.
