.
SketchUp links to REVIT 9.
Yeah ! Now I'm interetsed.

Below is a link to a 10 minute Video Tutorial on integtating SketchUp with REVIT 9.

It's simple, download the free version of SketchUp, install it, draw something really cool and then inport / link the SketchUp model into REVIT 9 in no time at all.

Click the link below or right click to Save Target As.." to download the clip.

Thanks for this.

Any update on how to use the SU model more effectively in Revit.
The main problem I have is when importing the model is not cut at the view range, the entire thing is visible in plan view.

Thanks.

Make a new family, generic model template. Import SKP into family. save, load into project.

SKP will now cut at view range. And in Section.

I have one more question concerning Sketchup. I can't get around the imported Sketchup model showing faces on curved entities, therefore, my pick faces ends up in segments. So far, I find it nearly as easy to mass in Revit than to import from Sketchup. Is there something I am overlooking?

I use Sketchup going the other way, for a quick presentation.

If I'm not mistaken, sketchup doesn't do curves. Make a circle for instance, and you will see that it is segmented. Extrude it and turn on hidden geometry and you will see the facets. Not sure, but I think that would be a limitation of sketchup rather than Revit. I'm not sure how you would get Revit to recognize a smooth curve from a faceted sketchup mass...

true...sketchup cannot do a true curve.
