Paint problem

I am trying to paint some split face regions on a wall.

I successfully used the paint tool in some areas.

When I try to use it in adjacent areas the painted material doesn't show. When I hover the paint can to highlight these areas the little message box pops up and indicates that the proper material has been applied to the area, but it doesn't show.

Help, please!

What view are you trying to paint in? I have done this before and swear I am splitting the right region and painting the right region and it turns out for some reason, when I was tabbing to get to my split region, I had selected an area behind it on another wall, way behind it, like the other side of the building. I was doing this in a 3d view, so I positioned the drawing in a different position, re-drew my split lines and got it.....long shot maybe, but I did it a time or two, so hope that helps....other than that, I have no idea. Sorry.

I was doing it in an elevation view.

I will try a 3D view.

I looked in a 3D view and I see that the inside face is getting painted, not the exterior.
