#1. In relation to using a schedule keys to eg. fill in Room information such as floor and ceiling finish is it possible to have a shared parameter in the schedule key? The shared parameter is visible in the room schedule, but I don't see ut when I am editing the schedule key.

#2. It also doesn't seem possible to create a label in a room tag family that shows the schedule key as one of the bits of text.
I was thinking that I could create a shared parameter that doubled up the information and allowed it to be part of a tag.
eg. "Schedule Key Name" = Room Type A, a shared parameter in the key schedule is called "Key Label" = Room Type A.
The shared parameter "Key Label" is then used as part of the Room Tag to get it show up on the drawing. I could fake this by using other parameters that aren't relevant to the project eg. Occupancy however this really isn't an acceptable work around & would lead to confusion etc.

#3. Also, does anyone have an explanation of why there are differences between the room parameters in the delivered template file & the parameters available in the delievered room tag family template file?
I'm assuming project parameters have been added in to the project file that didn't make it to the room tag family template.

#1 Sorry, no, shared parameters are not permitted in schedule keys....yet.
#2 Second verse same as the first.
#3 Yes you assume correctly.

#2 ... Yes this is possible if I understand what you are trying do. In essence you want to add a parameter to a room and then tag it. However you don't understand how to link the parameter you create in the label to the family so that the tag actually works. I found this AEC article when I was searching for how to do this. Good luck!

The article is fine, however it does not resolve the issue that shared parameters cannot show up in Key Schedules. So you have no way to label information directly that is inserted into Room Properties via a scheduled key. Key schedules do allow for values to be added, they just can't be added as shared parameters, and only shared parameters can be labled via a tag family.

This is very annoying  and prevents us from doing our full room schedules in Revit.

You can do your room schedules, you just might not be able to them as efficiently as possible. If you do shared parameters in the rooms, you could then use a Room Schedule to collapse similiar rooms (by a key) into rows for each "type" then input the shared parameter data in the single line. In affect you would be using filtering & sorting to create a "key schedule" with a standard room schedule.
