Is there any way of showing the area of a ceiling in a ceiling tag?

If I edit the ceiling tag it doesn't let me set an area parameter to the label.
I would like to be able to show the area of that bit of ceiling as part of the tag.

You will have to have 2 tags...the ceiling tag and the room tag(and you can customize it to read the area only) and place them in proximity to each other...

The good news? It will always report the correct information

But I am using the ceilings as "blobs" for planning/massing diagrams/studies (As they come "up" from the level rather than down like the floors. And you can assign each category of blob as a separate compound ceiling type & make them 3m high and produce very quick massing & area studies.)
There are no walls and therefore no rooms (other than drawing room separation lines). But then I have to keep track of the room separation lines along with any changes to the "ceiling" blobs - with potentially 30 blob types over 8-12 levels I don't want to be doubling up on my drawing & potentially missing the expanded bit on the third floor.
All I need is the ceiling tag to show the area of the ceiling & the ceiling type. This goes for floors/floor tags as well.

Using masses for this kind of think is far more labour intensive that just using a very thick ceiling or floor.

In a more traditional actual builing, the ceiling object might only be in part of a room, or two ceilings types might make up the ceiling in the same room.

Has there been any development on this in more recent Revit releases?

I am looking for a way (in 2009) to show the area of a ceiling in the ceiling tag. I can't cheat by using use a room tag, becuase there are several ceilings in each room.

Thanks
