Is there a Shareware viewer out there to see *.pat files graphically?
In "that other cad program" the hatch command allowed you to see all the hatch patterns (*.pat files) to choose the one you wanted. I would like to see the files I have before I load them into a Revit project.

I found this but it doesn't seem to work for me http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/dl_file.asp?ID=285
I assume you don't have a copy of autocad? If you have adt you can view them in design center....or you could just download DWGTrueView if you dont have autocad

I have one Architectural Desktop 3.3, but would rather not have to use it.
Especially if it is needed to support Revit!
I guess I'll add this dialogue to the wishlist for Revit
Does anyone else find this lacking?

Yeah a pattern viewer would be great! I am really tired of having to load and unload patterns from my library just to see which is which. I can't imagine it would be that hard to develop even if it had to be done with a similar slide library.
A pattern viewer would be an excellent feature and would actually be a time saver. The handling of fill patterns in Revit is positively Neanderthal. I think the Revit Heritage Interface Committee would object to this however.:)

Dear Chris;
Yes...actually there is a pat viewer. It is not free, it is $30.00, but hey it does quite a good job.
You can download a ffree 30 day trial copy from here:

Thanks Teresa, I couldn't get the other one to work. I think this really should be integrated into Revit.

One other option is something called Hatchkit 2.5. This actually makes hatches but you can open hatch patterns to view them. A little less refined then Cad Slide, but you can download the demo version and just use it as a free viewer.
