Folder or List

We have just moved up to AutoCAD 2004 from 14. After working on AutoCAD for a month,
I now find that whenever I try to open a new drawing, the dialog box has defaulted to FOLDER view. I find that the FOLDER view takes more time to generate. If I pick LIST, the dialog box changes to LIST but if I go to another directory, the FOLDER is back. How do I set the open dialog box to default to LIST mode???

We are using Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

Open Explorer and click on Tools>Folder Options>View tab. Make sure that "Remember each folder's view settings" is checked.
