Does anyone have experience working with production builders? Our firm deals with a couple and we usually have the need to show several (or more) opions for each particular model. Normally in AutoCAD I would just copy a small portion of the plan off to the side and make what changes I need to for the option and possibly add some hidden lines to the plan. I'm not sure if I would do it the same way in Revit.

please don't for all our sakes! :) Just a little teasing. What you need to investigate is "design options". Depending on how much difference you're talking about it may be worth it to just copy the whole model and have two or three Revit models of your options.

Once you've read up on design options, come on back with your questions! Someone will have an answer. :)

For simple options I've drawn a wall and demo'd it in the same phase. If your visibility is set correctly you can get this temporary wall or other objects to display with a dashed line work. Works great and can be very quick.

If you have walls or other objects that require a 2nd drawing I'd use the design options. They are very powerful. Just remember to duplicate the views. One view for each option, and then you can annotate each view as required.

We work with several builders and they require like most to have 3 different Elevation options with each floor Plan. Design Options work great for this purpose. The way I do it is to complete one model, then copy the whole thing as a new option then make the changes. Like stated in one the other replies, read up on Design Options. Once you get the hang of it you'll love it, At least I do.

Thanks to all for their advice. I'll be reading up on Design Options and I'm sure it will make my next projcet go a lot smoother.
