3D to three view w/isometric?

Is there a way to make a three view w/isometric drawing from a 3D drawing? If so will the three view drawing show all hidden lines? Will I be able to add dimensions to the three view afterwards?

Haven't used AutoCAD the past five years; things have really changed!

Yes, yes and yes.

Create the 3d model in mspace. Switch to pspace and create 4 viewports. The Mview
command is one easy way to do this. Watch out because, by default, acad creates one viewport in a new layout unless you have told it not to.
Double-click inside each vport in turn and set the views you want includuing an oblique view in one of them.
You can dimension in either pspace or mspace but, if you dimendsion in mspace, you will probably need one "dim" layer for each viewport and freeze the inappropriate layers in each viewport.
When you are ready to plot set the plot property of each vport to "hidden".

I must be pretty daft because I'm still not getting it. I'm not to familar with viewports, but I tried. Got to four differt viewports and set them to the view that I wanted, but it doesn't leave a lot of space for dimensioning and I was unable to turn off dimensions in the different viewports.

Does SOLVIEW or SOLDRAW have anything to do with this?

You can stretch the viewports to any size you want, or make the scale of the model smaller. There's a couple of ways to approach the dim visiblilty. One for dims in ms, is to put the dims for each plane/viewport on a separate layer and then control layer visiblity per viewport by toggling the 'freeze in current viewport' setting. The other is to use associatve dims in paperspace (2006 and up).

The good news is you don't have to use SOLDRAW/SOLPROF until you want to create section views. Even then, it is possible to avoid them.

Since no one else is posting this I will so you will not run into it later. I'm assuming you have a 3d model since you are in this part of the forum. When you dimension your model you should really think about doing it in PS. There is often conflict on if you should draw 3D dims in MS or PS. The reasoning for doing it in PS is not only the layering issue as mentioned above, but the dimension will show the actual length selected and if you select a point in the Z axis you will have an issue with showing the true length.

Also if you work in manufacturing you probably deal with ordinate dimensions. you will find it much easier to do this in PS. About the only dimensioning option, I have not tried this on 06 or 07, not available to you is quick dimensions because you are trying to select something in a different space.
