New to Revit. Wondering what other rendering software works with Revit besides AR3. I understand the value of photorealistic, but sometimes would want to do a rendering that is watercolor or looks like colored pencil drawing. What are the options? Thanks

Revit can export a dwg model that can be imported by most rendering software. Of course material definitions and mapping would be lost. I prefer render with ar3 and use photoshop to obtain the "non photoreal" effect. Photoshop is a great tool to have in your toolbox.
Here are a few examples

It's a bit of a long trip, but you can export from Revit to pretty much any 3D software you want via DXF. I've experimented with exporting a Revit model to Truespace via a custom layer exported DXF that located varous object as varous colors based upon what thier materials were. It worked OK. 3DS export would be a lot less work.

As for 'non-photorealistic' renderings, if you have the money check out Piranesi. It's at http://www.informatix.co.uk/ It costs about the same as Photoshop, IIRC, and I feel that photoshop is more useful because it can do a lot more than just renderings. But Piranesi certainly looks like a faster way to do this, if you can afford it.

A low-buck way to go would be to pick up a copy of Fractel Painter. It's made by Corel, I think. It comes free with Wacom Tables, which are a real good thing to have when trying to do any kind of digital art, esp. when you want it to look 'hand-done'.

P.S. I love your renderings! that look of line art comming off the color is really great! How are you doing that?

Layers, my man, lots of layers

It's really quite easy, I'll put together a "how to" and post it in the tips and tricks forum.
